Sanctuary
The unique, dark-beamed sanctuary with stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings was originally the ballroom of the Belle Monte Country Club. It features a beautifully restored Chickering concert grand piano and a world-class 20-rank pipe organ built by church member Gary Brandenburg. Professional musicians use this warm and inviting space for recitals when it’s not reserved for weddings. French doors open to the veranda. The sanctuary also has a retractable projection screen for presentations. Look carefully at the antique sconces on the sanctuary walls, and you will find evidence of this room’s first life — crossed golf clubs in bronze mark each one! Maximum seating in the sanctuary is 200 persons.
Dining Room and Veranda
The well-appointed dining room features French doors and high ceilings. Skylight windows fill the room with light which is reflected in the oak floor. The room opens to a massive veranda with a stunning view of the moon hanging over the Belmont Hills. A fully operational kitchen is a caterer’s delight, with a commercial range and oven as well as a warming oven, with easy access to the dining room. Maximum seating is up to 100 persons, depending on table setup.
Fireplace Room
This large multipurpose room with its own independent kitchen is a favorite for meetings of larger groups. It is perfect for children’s parties, since the wide double doors open to a well-appointed backyard playground and lawn big enough for a bounce house or other children’s entertainment to be set up.
Parlor / Bride’s Room
Our parlor serves as a comfortable and private Bride’s Room with two bathrooms (one handicapped-accessible) for your wedding. The bride will walk just a few steps from the Bride’s Room to the center aisle of the Sanctuary when the pipe organ begins the wedding processional.
The parlor is also just the right size for intimate meetings for smaller groups of 10 or fewer.
About the Building
The historic building that houses the Congregational Church of the Peninsula was built on its hilltop setting as the clubhouse for the Belle Monti Country Club in the early 1920s.
The main floor is totally handicapped-accessible with an elevator from the north parking lot, a ramp to the front door and an appropriate bathroom off the parlor.
We do our best to maintain our building as a “green” environment. We compost wet paper and food products and recycle plastic, paper and cans. We also encourage our renters to use our china and silverware, and we don’t permit the use of Styrofoam or single-use plastic utensils in the building. We have biodegradable single-use dinnerware available for purchase.
If you’re planning training sessions or business meetings, the entire building has wireless Internet access.
